At Mindful Montana Wellness, we use several therapeutic models to empower clients. These are just two of the main models, however counseling is determined with each individual client and their therapy plan is individualized for them and their needs.
The first is Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy or MBCT, which is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices such as meditation and breathing exercises. Using these tools, MBCT therapists teach clients how to break away from negative thought patterns that can lead to depression, anxiety, excessive worry, and addiction. Through the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and cognitive (or changing thinking patterns), clients can become empowered and in better control of their minds and lives.
The second is EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, which is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. To read more about EMDR visit What is EMDR?
